The municipality of Mijas has recently been taking strenuous efforts to reinforce its image as a traditional white village.

Land owners are to be given one month to voluntarily remove advertising billboards that do not comply with municipal regulations.
The Mijas Town Planning department is looking at various initiatives to enable licences for minor works to be issued within ten working days.

It is hoped that in the following days a new set of regulations are to be approved at a Mijas council meeting regarding the maintenance, conservation and restoration of properties in Mijas Pueblo.

Calle Málaga and Calle Carril, two of the busiest roads in Mijas Pueblo, are to become semi-pedestrian zones in a bid to make the centre of Mijas even more attractive to tourists.
